By the Gruni Scientific Research Centre and the School of Business and Management a two-day field lecture was organized for the students of the tourism department at the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the laboratory under its authority.

The group of students was led by university professors: Gocha Ochigawa and Maka Piranashvili. The main host was Mrs. Liana Kartvelishvili - Professor, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Head of the Department of General and Applied Climatology of the National Environment Agency, Academician of the Academy of Environmental Sciences of Georgia. At all meetings, significant time was devoted to the impact of ongoing research in hydrology, soil science, meteorology, resortology and climatology and the data on the development of tourism services. In the laboratory of the National Environment Agency (which is unique in its importance and the quality and scope of recent development), students met with specialists in the field, directly participated in some experiments. Also, acquired information about the latest research and state-of-the-art equipment.

No less interesting were the meetings in the National Agency of the Environment itself, where the data obtained from the above-mentioned laboratory are processed. The students talked with specialists about the most important steps taken by our country in the development of meteorology. In this case too, the main emphasis was placed on the importance of weather forecasting for the development of tourism. The students' awareness was raised by the heads of many departments/divisions. Also, two presentations were held. Professor Liana Kartvelishvili spoke to the young people about the impact of climate change on tourism and touched on such issues as: the impact of climate change on the development of various sectors of the economy, the feasibility of teaching specific disciplines in the direction of tourism, the importance of statistical data on the distribution of various climate indices in time and space.

Ms. Khatuna Tsiklauri - Doctor of Biology, Head of the Department of Environmental Damage Remediation, Biodiversity Division, gave a presentation on the protected areas of Georgia and climate changes. Both presentations aroused great interest among students. The meeting continued in question-answer mode.
