GRUNI SDGs Graffiti Art Competition – Winning Wall Paintings in Tbilisi
Grigol Robakidze University (GRUNI), through its SDGs Center, successfully concluded the Graffiti Art (Big Wall Painting) – SDGs Awareness Competition on December 18, 2025. The initiative aimed to promote public awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by using graffiti art as a powerful and accessible medium of communication.
At the closing ceremony, the winners of the competition were officially announced. Nikoloz Kakhelishvili received the first prize of 500 GEL, having achieved the highest combined score based on jury evaluation and audience engagement on social media. Nanina Andguladze was selected as the preferred participant by the partner organisation ArtOa and was awarded a cash prize of 250 GEL.
The project was implemented in cooperation with Tbilisi City Hall and ArtOa. As part of the initiative, the selected artworks were painted on large public walls in Mziuri Park and Vake Park during November and December 2025, following official authorisation from municipal authorities.
The closing event was attended by Sopio Ugrekhelidze, Head of the Education and Youth Affairs Division of the Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs City Service of Tbilisi City Hall. Inspired by the success of the 2024 Photo-Video-Art SDGs Awareness Competition, the project demonstrated the effectiveness of creative and visual formats in encouraging dialogue on social and environmental challenges and supporting the local implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
