Academician Avtandil Arabuli Delivering a Public Lecture at Grigol Robakidze University
On December 17, 2025, Grigol Robakidze University organized a public lecture for journalism students by Academician Avtandil Arabuli. The lecture was based on the topic “Problems of the Development of the State Language in Today’s Geopolitical Environment.”
During the lecture, Academician Arabuli spoke about how languages develop and the difficulties they face in modern times. He explained that many language-related issues in Georgia are connected to effective state language policies, better language culture in society, strong laws, support for regional and minority languages (including Abkhazian) and challenges in the education system. He also highlighted the importance of using the Georgian language properly in the digital and online space.
He described language as a living entity that always needs care and protection. Special importance was given to the role of young people and students in preserving language. He also mentioned that journalists have a major responsibility to use correct and pure language in their professional work.
At the end of the lecture, students asked questions about professional terms, dialects and regional languages, and the Academician answered them in detail. The session was attended by the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nino Shoshitashvili, along with other faculty members.
