GRUNI Theatre Troupe at Mask Festival
The 12th Tbilisi International Amateur Student Theatre Festival “Mask” was successfully held this year and GRUNI’s theatre troupe once again made a strong impression at the festival.
The troupe performed David Kldiashvili’s famous play “Darisipani’s Predicament,” which was warmly received by the audience. The performance was directed by Tinatin Kordzadze, actress and director of the Free Theatre. The artistic direction was led by Otar Laskhishvili and Khatia Markozashvili.
GRUNI’s theatre troupe received five nominations at the festival and won three major awards:
Best Performance in a Leading Male Role — Luka Megreladze
Best Performance in a Comic Male Role — Zuka Chogovadze
Best Performance in a Comic Female Role — Elene Modebadze
The performances were evaluated by a distinguished jury of well-known Georgian theatre and film professionals, including Nineli Chankvetadze, Temiko Chichinadze, Mariam Roinishvili, Eka Mzhavanadze, Apolon Kublashvili and others.
Founded in 2012, the International Amateur Student Theatre Festival “Mask” aims to encourage creative exchange among students, promote theatrical art, and strengthen international cultural relations.
